This song is based on Ovid's "Metomorphoses" Book 11: "Ceyx and Alcyone". The myth itself has a happy ending but I failed to include that. Also, the song is an homage to Slint's "Good Morning, Captain" as well as The Who's "Baba O'Reilly" with the ending progression.
lyrics
she turned the ocean gods against me they're gonna have to blow away, blow away. snapping masts men overboard walls of water crushing all the way, all the way. i keep thinking of my wife there goes my fucking life thrown away, thrown away. what will she do when she hears the news who will take care of her in her old age, in her old age. violence brought me here clinging to this wood. obliterated ship scattered with the hands of force. sun so bright i'm blinded. salt and blood corrode my eyes. hallucinations of our home. i can just reach out and touch you. i need you. please rescue me. am i coming thru? transmission direct to you.
the waves they push me further from the sinking debris. i can barely lift my head. no one here but me. i can feel Neptune's breath on my neck. my hands are slipping from this board. and with my last breath... i whisper your name. i need you. please rescue me. am i coming thru? transmission direct to you.
if anyone should find this wood please make sure it gets to her. she's standing on the western shore just waiting.
